Biography
Graduated in 1982 at the Catholic University of Guayaquil, he obtained the highest grades of his promotion and the prize for the best thesis of degree. He continued his studies at the School of Ophthalmology at the Barraquer Clinic in Bogotá, Colombia - a world pioneer center in the development of refractive surgery - where he became Resident Monitor and made a sub specialty in refractive surgery with Professor Luis A. Ruiz. He was Head of the Department of Refractive Surgery at the Maghraby Hospital in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. Since 1989, he has been a pioneer in keratomileusis techniques in Ecuador and has been a regular user of the Excimer Laser since 1994. Dr. Viteri is a delegate to Ecuador of the International Society of Refractive Surgery - American Academy of Ophthalmology (SSRI-AAO) and the Latin American Association of Cataract Surgery and Anterior Segment (ALACCSA), a frequent guest speaker at national and international courses. international He has performed demonstration surgeries in Ecuador, Colombia, Venezuela, the Dominican Republic and Mexico. He is one of the most experienced professionals in Latin America, with more than 15,000 laser procedures and extensive experience in glaucoma treatment and cataract surgery without sutures.
