Biography
Dr Stratos Gotzaridis is a Vitreoretinal Specialist, Athens Retina Institute, Athens, Greece Born in Komotini, Greece, in 1962 Graduated from Medical School of Aristotle University of Thessaloniki – Greece. After fulfilling his military service, he trained in Ophthalmology in AHEPA University Hospital, Thessaloniki – Greece. One year funded Fellowship in Uveitis and Inflammatory diseases with Mr. William Ayliffe in Croydon University Hospital, London, UK 1997-1998. One year Fellowship in Vitreoretinal Surgery with Mr. Chris Canning and Mr. Andy Luff in Southampton University Hospital, Southampton, UK, 1998 – 1999. One year funded Fellowship in Vitreoretinal Surgery with Mr. Bob Cooling and Mr. Zdenek Gregor in Moorfields Eye Hospital, London UK, 1999 – 2000. A fellowship supported by IACOCCA Foundation and Harvard Medical School gave him the opportunity to work with Prof. Donald D’ Amico in Mass Eye and Ear Infirmary Boston USA, on research projects such as Optic Disc Surgery for CRVO, and ablation of the ILM with Erbium YAG laser using biological dyes, 2000 – 2001. Since July 2001 he runs a retinal practice in Athens focused mainly on surgical retinal problems. Medical retinal diseases such as diabetic retinopathies, AMD and uveitis are in his main interests as well. Clinical research focused on the improvement of the surgical technique of vitrectomy is also in his main interests. A new technique which is a modification of the conventional 20 GAUGE Pars Plane Vitrectomy has been worked out and has been performed since 2003. Initially, as a tranconjuctival technique that was using sutures at the end of the operation. Then the technique was improved. This new technique reduces the operating time and the post operative inflammation of the eye.The post operative recovery time is shorter too (video). The technique has been presented in several meetings around the world. Many surgeons have adopted the technique. The last few years Dr. Gotzaridis MD has adopted the small incision instrumentation (25G and recently the 27G (gauge) in his surgery. These instruments together with the use of Constellation Machine of Alcon have improved the surgical results of the operative cases. Dr Gotzaridis is also a professor of ESASO (European School for Advanced Studies in Ophthalmology). Main topics of interest: Management of Epiretinal membranes, preretinal and subretinal membranes, pathology and management of re-retinal detachments (when performing relaxing retinotomies). Biography
Clifford D Brown currently serves in the Central Alabama Veterans Health Care System as Chief of the Eye Clinics and work closely with both the Neurology and TBI Team Leads to provide in depth diagnostic and rehabilitative care for veteran service members. Previously, his active duty assignments have included the Department of Homeland Security (Senior Health Adviser and Senior Analyst/Operations Chief, National Biosurveillance Integration Center), the US Public Health Service (multiple Indian Health Service Hospitals as Chief of Eye Service), the US Army Deputy Chief of Eye Services and Behavioral Vision Chief for the Exceptional Family Member Department (97th General Hospital, Frankfurt, Germany), in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada as a Rehabilitative Consultant for five school districts in Alberta, and Manitoba (private practice), and the US Air Force Security Services Command as the Chief of Eye Care. After completion of under graduate and professional degrees at Pacific University, Oregon in 1973, he completed Fellowship (1986) and Diplomate (2000) studies and a Master of Public Health in 2008. In 2006 the Association of Military Surgeons of the United States awarded him the 2006 David Sullins National Service Award. He served the past eight years as a Reviewer of professional articles for the Journal of Military Medicine and as Examination Board Member for American Academy Diplomate Public Health/Environmental Vision for ten years. He introduced TBI as diagnosis in need of military care in 2004 to Scientific and Research Symposium, and as a source of domestic violence nationally in 2008.

Sotiris Tsioumas is a Surgeon Ophthalmologist and graduate of the Medical School of the University of Modena in northern Italy. He completed his specialization at the "Aghios Savvas" Oncology Hospital where he gained valuable experience in a large number of surgeries, such as the restoration of eyelid, lacrimal apparatus and orbit disorders, blepharoplasty, cataract surgery using the phacoemulsification method, etc. He is a member of the Athens Medical Association,, the Greek Ophthalmological Society, the Greek and Italian Oculoplastic Society, the Italian Society of Cosmetic Medicine "AIME" and a member of the "European Academy of Facial Plastic Surgery". The rich experience that he acquired at the University "Tor Vergata" as well as the strong friendships and continuous communication and the exchange of ideas and techniques with important and highly qualified and renowned professors and as well as his concurrent alertness on all matters that concern Cosmetic Medicine and the part of surgical ophthalmology are factors that constitute a modern scientific personality, ready to meet the needs of individuals interested in the health and aesthetics of their face and eyes. He then specialized in Cosmetic Medicine at the State University "Tor Vergata", in Rome. Objects of specialization are Botox, the removal of tumors and painless, bloodless and suture-free blepharoplasty using radio frequency ablation, hyaluronic acid (fillers) for filling wrinkles, mesotherapy, peelings, threads, the combat unsightly dark circles, etc. He has held Fellowship in Advanced Photo refractive Surgery for the laser correction of refractive defects. The constant alertness for scientific research of new methods related to the broader field of interest leads him to Brussels where at the Hall of Anatomy of the State University of Medicine he participates in a special course on the surgical rejuvenation of the face with the use of new techniques on blepharoplasty, mini lifting, lipofilling, botox.
